Well it was time for "REAL" food... Britton, my wife and the speach therapist Brandon ordered him up a pureed smorgasbord of mashed patatoes, carrots and lasagna. My wife sent me a text that said ...."Britton is having real food today, and he said that lasagna has never tasted so good! Brandon would ask Britton if he had swallowed it yet?.. and he would reply ..NO! How come Brandon asked? Britton replied again with a full mouth....I'm savoring it!" They all just laughed... My wife said he would let every bite he took just sit in his mouth forever before he would swallow it.. enjoying every single bite. I guess if you haven't had real food for over 4 months anything would taste so good! The Dr's and Therapist's are working on getting him use to attempting a couple meals a day this next week. His swallowing and clearing his own mouth and air way is getting better everyday. Britton was ask the other day what is the first meal he wants to eat when he gets home?... without hesitation "STEAK" was blurted & a "Big Mac" & "Taco Bell".. well at least he has his priorities in line. If things keep going well, maybe he will get that feeding tube out and have that "STEAK" soon?
Britton has been getting so much stronger everyday. It's amazing to me to see the vast improvements he makes daily. Two weeks ago he had the hardest time even lifting his left arm, especially his shoulder. He has been working so hard on those specific areas, and it's really paying off. His crawling has got so much better and his daily drills need less assistance. He is so willing to do whatever is ask of him and does it 110%. It's so easy to stay positive all the time, because he is so positive all the time. Britt is such a great sport about everything, with a give me more "I can handle it" attitude. The only downfall to his workouts during the day is that he wants to say "HI" to every single person we see in the halls or in the gym. He is definately the social butterfly on this floor!
