Day 4 in a nutshell

Wow. Today was HUGE. The doctors told us yesterday that today would be a big day for Britton. I feel so humbled that heavenly father heard all those prayers, because today was a little better than yesterday, and yesterday was better than the day before. Progress people, progress is what that is.

Ledger walked in the room the other day, and pulled something out of his pocket. It was a little squishy football from home that he and britt would play with. He grabbed his brothers hand and placed the ball in, closing his fingers. "Now when you wake up we can play catch." he said.

The MRI showed a few things, of course some very positive and a few to keep watch over and be concerned about. But of course theres going to be concerns and things to worry about, we are talking about a traumatic brain injury here folks!! So it is okay, and normal.

There is as injured portion in the brain, from experiencing a stroke. That spot deals with motor skills and some visual memory things. They aren't worried about it, whatever might've been lost there is possible to be regained and relearned in the future. There are positively areas in the brain that will need rehabilitation. There are also areas that were impacted and will need to  be closely monitored and watched over the next few days, which will be crucial. The blood in his brain has, for the most part, stayed the same, which is just how the doctors want it, because it hasn't been getting larger.

His numbers are looking good, and his oxygen levels in the brain as well. The swelling seems to be controlled for the time being, and the doctors are doing everything they can to keep him stable and not disrupt that.

His lungs still have a little bit of fluid in them, and they are watching closely for infection and pneumonia, they took down the ventilator levels to slow down the contraction of his lungs, and let them rest a little bit. They have him on lot of medicines and things to try and prevent sickness!

The also started him on more of a nutrition plan today! i mean, it ain't his 4000 calorie diet, but at least its a start! They are feeding him through his nose for now, and might consider some other options later on this week to get him more substance in his belly.

what a day right? baby steps. He is a fighter that boy, and he is doing so well. He looks like himself today, like the britton we all love. He is still in very critical condition and being monitored very close, but slowly and surely he is making a comeback. He still needs your prayers, and i know you know that. So thank you. Thank you for not letting down, and thank you for continuing to believe for Britton.

another day down, i thank my heavenly father for that.
